Regulation summary
Adult care home managers are responsible for the management of residential care/nursing homes for people who cannot live in their own homes. This may include older people, people with disabilities and people who are homeless.
Responsibilities include:-
overall management of the facility,
development and implementation of policies to ensure good practice, recruitment,
training and management of all care staff,
budgetary control,
liaison with other professionals,
handling of complaints and emergency situations.
Registration is compulsory for all adult care home managers in residential facilities, and to register on Part Two of the Northern Ireland Social Care Council Register, if a social worker registers on Part Two.

They will have experience working in a related field - nursing, social work or social care.
They will have obtained qualifications in nursing, social work or social care. This includes social work qualification or Nursing qualification or NVQ 4Care / NVQ Health and Social Care / Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care / Adult Management / Adult Residential Management / Level 5 Diploma for Health and Social Care in Leadership and Management-Adult / Residential Adult.
