ARCW (Adult Residential Care Worker) *Compulsory Registration*

Adult care home workers work in a residential setting to support, care for and protect and empower people to live as well as independently as possible.

They deliver practical help and individual support to the people they are caring for. This may include older people, people with physical, sensory, learning disabilities, mental ill health, addictions and homelessness.

Adult home care workers must register with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council before they take up a post. They are registered on Part Two of the Northern Ireland Social Care Council register.

Adult home care workers must work to the NISCC Standards of Conduct and Practice for Social Care Workers.

Registration requirements

Adult care home worker - must register with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council on Part Two of the register.

To register you must have secured a position an adult home care worker / be registered for social care work with a recruitment agency / have a start date for a social care position.

If newly recruited - apply to register as soon as you take up post.

To maintain registration you must pay an annual fee and meet continual professional development requirements.
