We offer a comprehensive range of professional qualifications which lead to attainment of the globally recognised status of Chartered Banker.
People enter the banking profession from diverse backgrounds and at various career stages. As a sector shaped by ongoing technological, regulatory and societal change, banking demands professionals who can adapt and grow. Our qualifications are designed to support individuals in gaining core knowledge and skills relevant to their role, while also developing the ethical mindset and professional behaviours needed to apply this knowledge effectively. Our modular qualification framework is both flexible and responsive, enabling progression at different career stages and allowing for the introduction of new topics that reflect the evolving needs of banking professionals. Certification can be achieved in just a few months, and all programmes are delivered fully online, allowing learners to study at their own pace and from any location.
We actively support the integration of relevant apprenticeships with our professional qualifications, helping individuals and employers align learning with career development.
We also recognise prior learning, including experiential learning, and give it due consideration within our qualification pathways.

We are committed to raising professional standards in banking globally. This is often best achieved through collaboration with like-minded organisations, and we maintain a growing network of partners across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. A list of current arrangements is available on our website.
For those wishing to study with us directly, our qualifications are accessible worldwide, with the same application process for learners outside the UK as for those within it.
We recognise relevant prior learning and offer a specific experiential route to Chartered Banker status.
We believe that professional learning should reflect the context in which individuals work. That’s why we collaborate with professional bodies and banking institutes around the world to support the development of Chartered Bankers who meet high standards of ethical and responsible professionalism, tailored to local needs.
Where appropriate, we ensure our programmes meet additional jurisdictional requirements. For example, our Green and Sustainable Finance Certificate is also accredited by the:
Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA)
Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)
Singapore Institute of Banking & Finance (IBF) - More about recognition for professionals outside the UK

You should contact the Institute directly to register qualifications and prior learning and experience with us. We recommend that if you live outside the UK, you first investigate our website to see if we have partnerships operating in your region.
To maintain the status of Chartered Banker you must commit to and comply with the Chartered Banker Institute's Code of Professional Conduct on an ongoing basis.
As a Chartered Banker you are also required to maintain your skills, knowledge and expertise through a programme of relevant continuing professional development (CPD). We support you in this by offering a wide range of resources to support you as you develop in your role and career as part of your membership.
To ensure we protect the status of the Chartered Banker title, it is only conferred upon those with a current membership of the Institute at the grade of 'Member' or, where applicable 'Fellow'. You will therefore be required to pay annual membership fees - details of which can be found by visiting the Institute's website and following the information pathway on Membership.
