Routes to qualification

CIPD Qualifications
There are three levels of CIPD qualifications, taught by external study centres, but awarded by the CIPD: Foundation Certificate, Associate Diploma and Advanced Diploma. Successful completion of one of these qualification leads to Foundation (Foundation Certificate) or Associate membership (Associate Diploma and Advanced Diploma). Learners who have completed an Advanced Diploma and have the required experience are then able to complete an upgrading assessment to Chartered Member or Chartered Fellow.

CIPD accredited university programmes
These are Master’s degrees designed, developed and delivered by universities that are mapped to CIPD qualifications and have been accredited by the CIPD. Upon successful completion, you will be awarded a degree by the university you study with and you will be awarded Associate Membership of the CIPD, with the opportunity to upgrade to Chartered membership with the appropriate experience.

Senior People Professional Apprenticeship (England only)
Learners who complete the Senior People Professional Apprenticeship and undertake their End Point Assessment with the CIPD are automatically eligible to become a Chartered Member.

Experience Assessment
Our direct route to membership, at Associate, Chartered Member or Chartered Fellow, which allows experienced people professionals to demonstrate their experience via an assessment and achieve professional membership.
