Regulation

Regulation summary

The Chartered Geographer accreditation recognises those who are using their geographical skills and knowledge in the workplace. Geography is the integrated study of the Earth's landscapes, peoples, places and environments.

Chartered Geographers may specialise in the dynamics of any of these phenomena, from local to global scales across the world, including environmental processes, the relationships between peoples, or between peoples and their physical environments. As appropriate to the problems they address, their skills may be based in quantitative or qualitative methods in the environmental or social sciences, or in the humanities.

Chartered Geographers may choose to use one of five approved post-nominals to signal a sub-disciplinary specialism:

CGeog
CGeog (GIS)
CGeog (GI)
CGeog (Econ)
CGeog (Earth Obs)
CGeog (Geomorph)
CGeog (Teacher)

Applications for specialist post nominals will be assessed by appropriate specialist assessors.
