Routes to qualification

Chartered Mathematician registration is a masters level designation awarded to professional mathematicians who can demonstrate:
• FHEQ level 7 qualification (or equivalent professional competency) in mathematics;
• suitable level and length of postgraduate training, experience and professional standing in the mathematical field;
• and a commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Chartered Mathematician registration is open to anyone who can demonstrate that they meet the criteria. Qualification equivalency can be demonstrated against the QAA framework for masters level.

Registration requirements

Chartered Mathematicians must be a Member (MIMA) or Fellow (FIMA) of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications. Registration is subject to annual renewal and continued professional development participation.
