Regulation
Regulation summary
Regulation 304/2008 (as retained in UK law) establishes the minimum requirements for the training and certification of persons working with stationary fire protection systems and fire extinguishers, containing fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-gases).
Article 4 and Article 5 of Regulation 304/2008 require such persons to hold a certificate issued by a certification body, demonstrating that they have passed a theoretical and practical examination organised by an evaluation body, covering the minimum skills and knowledge set out in Annex I of the Regulation.
Article 8 of The Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases Regulation 2015 enables the Secretary of State to appoint certification bodies and evaluation bodies for the purposes of Regulation 304/2008.
It is against the law to work with equipment containing F-gases if you do not have the correct qualifications. The Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases Regulations 2015 provide powers for enforcing authorities to take action against those who fail to comply with this requirement.
