Residential child care workers - compulsory registration. You must be registered with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council - Part One if you hold a social work qualification, Part Two if you hold other relevant qualifications.
Residential child care workers - work with children and young people, undertaking a professional role. This includes care and support to enable children and young people develop their full potential. There is an emphasis on safeguarding and promoting the rights and well-being of children and young people.

Other qualifications - register with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council - Part Two.
For both - registration is compulsory and must be maintained - annual fee paid and continuing professional development undertaken - social work - 90 hours every three years. Other qualifications - 90 hours every five years.
