The SSSC Register was set up under the Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act 2001 to regulate for the social work, social care and early years workforce.

Support workers in day care of children services are workers who
have delegated responsibility for providing care and support to
children within a Care Inspectorate registered adult care home service.

You must be registered within 6 months of starting this role.

You must hold a qualification accepted by the SSSC for this role or agreed to achieve the qualification within the first five years of registration.

The benchmark qualification is:
* SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) SCQF Level 6

Summary of routes

We do not assess international social care qualifications for registration on any function-based part of the register.

Instead, you are required to achieve the benchmark qualifications for you role. You can continue to register with us and will be required to gain the relevant benchmark qualification whilst you are working.

You can contact your learning provider to find out if you can use your international qualification for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

You must complete Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) to maintain your registration
